Heart's Blood - Weekend Reflections

On our last walk together, Sissy showed me a treasure trove of jewels. A place where pitch from the heart of the tree drips down the bark, leaving bejeweled drops of sparkling beauty.

Neither one of us had ever seen red pitch before--but there it was.  Straight from the heart of the giant fir tree.

Above I've added a closeup of this amazing jewel of nature.

You can see more wonderful Reflections from all over the world at Weekend Reflections.

Ah sissie, your shot of this jeweled tree blood turned out MUCH better than mine. Truly beautiful, touching, amazing, and profoundly sad ... sad because the tree doesn't have much longer to live. Sigh.

Very cool it looks like "a jewel in a Ethiops ear"...to bad it's a sigh of the trees passing.
I hope you are heading into a wonderful weekend sissy Bea...love you.

I must admit that it is the first time I have ever seen something like it. On might manage it by some magician's trickery, but nature beats it.

I'm so glad you visited Greensboro Daily Photo because that sent me here and you have some pretty special photos. You do macro so well. I think that's why you liked the frog so much. I love this heart's blood drop today. I could stare at it for a very long time and bet it would send my thoughts in many directions. Lovely....
