Hearts in a Snowstorm - Guest Heart Thursday

We were all disbelieving when they said snow would fall and stick.  Especially here.  It snowed all day long, but beyond a smattering of white on the daffodils and blossoming plums, it didn't stay for long.  Winter, so deeply in love with Spring--rarely gets to hold her hand.

Then under cover of darkness, Winter came bearing gifts, leaving Spring a graceful coat of white, softly draped around her shoulders.

It was a gift of love, you see--Spring stole Winter's heart away, as he declared his love, sprinkling love's sweet tokens into her arms...

...snow hearts embellished with sparkling ice diamonds.

Of course a spring snowstorm isn't complete without leaving bare foot and hand prints in the snow!

Trees bowed to the beauty of winter's gift.  Can you see the hidden blue hearts?  They're snowflakes, of course.

This morning, when I arose to investigate, of course I found a heart waiting for me to take its picture.

In the Spring sunshine, I found a droplet in the cedar tree--yes, there's a heart there, too.

The fragrant blossoms of fruit trees were laced in white.  Do you see the snow heart?  This one is for you, sweet SissyBoo!  It is unexpected and beautiful--just like you.

Dear Beth, is Spring, that oft-personified season, suddenly a hermaphrodite?

draped around her shoulders.

and later

he sprinkled them down into her arms.

Oh sissie ... I love your hearts - especially the beautiful snowy one hiding amidst the pink flowers!

Ah Prospero, dear adopted brother ... mayhaps you misread? "He" refers to "winter", who is sprinkling "his" cold beauty into the arms of "Spring"???

Be that as it may ... I think maybe the fickle Spring is perhaps a bit of both "him" and "her"??? :=}

Oh, dear--you two are SO funny! lol Here's what I meant--I often see Winter as a boy and Spring as a girl. As I see it, Spring steals winter's heart, as that cold hearted fellow melts away. Declaring his love, Winter leaves beloved Spring a snow coat and sparkling icy diamond hearts! lol

Thank you my dear adoptive sisters! i'll try to pay more attention next time! But pronouns, generally speaking, make me dizzy. Naturally, old man winter can be safely assumed to be on the testosterone side of the equation--but sometimes my minds wanders (a pathological condition) and, out of the blue, produces unforeseen scenarios involving weepy characters of uncertain gender. This sudden drift into eros' lair is inconvenient especially when trying to assign genders to lovelorn seasons.

my mind wanders! (singular-plural also makes me dizzy!)

though 'minds' is probably as good a description of my quasi-schizophrenic tendencies as any...

but i'll quit while i'm ahead.

(sorry to gum up your blog with nonsense)
