Last week as I awakened, I knew something wasn't quite right. I sat on the edge of the bed to glance outside. I gasped at the peculiar red color of the Sullen Sun. This photo actually doesn't do justice to how red the sun actually was. My camera would not pick up the blood red color of the sun itself--but the reflections you see spattered here, are very close.
Oddly enough, even the sunlight itself was red. I caught the vibrant color of it spilling down the stairs. I've never seen anything like it.
At first I thought the sun was red because farmers here have been field burning. However, on the news it was said the red color blurring the sunlight is because of a huge fire in Russia. Incredibly, the smoke is being carried by the jet stream up over the North Pole. The truth is, we are all tied together more closely than we could ever imagine.

the sun's red due to the fires in Russia? quite odd.
Anyhow, these are magnificent captures. You were lucky to have caught them.
Have a great day!
That's amazing. We sometimes smell smoke here from fires hundreds of miles away, but I don't remember every being affected like that from a fire in a different continent. It makes sense, those are some huge fires.
wow, your photos are eerily gorgeous, beth. who could have imagined that we would be affected??? how amazing that you may only see this once in your lifetime...how great is that??
3 circles, not just one. Maybe the mind, body, and spirit, and the fire that burns in each? Exquisite photo.
Red suns are always so colorful... Thanks for this ovely sharing !
We've had the blood red sun in the evenings. It must be close to impossible to capture that degree of red, but you did much better than I. The red sunbeams are amazing!
OOOU..that would be different to see that!
Glad you captured it, for us!
