Black Berries

I have six thornless blackberry plants.  They were crafted by a master gardener and are the best I've ever seen.  This is what they look like just before the petals fall and the fruit is about to make an appearance.

With our record heat these berries are fat and juicy--about to fall off the vine.  They are the best blackberries I've ever eaten!

I noticed it has been almost a year exactly since I posted something here.  I broke my camera and the newer one is disappointing, so I have not taken as many pictures.  Also, this year has been one of transition.  I am no longer numb over the loss of my Beloved.  My mind is feeling the full grief of losing half my heart.  I have had to put my energy into what matters most.  But now I am back.

The haze of grief seems to be lifting a little.  Soon I will, camera in hand, go out to take pictures again.  Happy Summer, dear Friends. 

Unexpected Bounty

In late summer, when warmth still tinged the air, Clytie and I found this unexpected bevy of fragrant blackberries festooning a prickly pine tree.

I can taste those warm, sweet berries yet. And as always I yearn for summertime.

Daddy Update: Great news! Dad has formally been discharged from the wound specialist. The top of his head is completely healed. He has also been fitted for a more comfortable neck collar to support his still-broken neck.

However, Dad is still having flashbacks to his time in the prison camp--they are even more vivid than before. Yesterday Dad went to the VA Hospital for some tests to find out why. I would appreciate your continued prayers for the healing of Dad's neck and the cessation of those flashbacks. Mom would appreciate your prayers, too. This is all very hard for her.

Rainbow in my Garden

I had gone outside to gather blackberries from my garden, where they cascade over the fenceline. There I found magic in an unexpected rainbow of color.
