Winter Sunset on the Oregon Coast

Mumsie and I spent a week at the beach with friends in January.  The sunsets over the Pacific Ocean were spectacular.  This evening photo is a wonderful example of the moments of beauty one can experience on the Oregon Coast.

Have a lovely day, dear Friends.

Sandstone Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I spotted this wonderful sandstone heart right away.   Last winter's storms loosened a great deal of the cliffs here and this crumble of sandstone is what is left.

This is the cliff itself.  It is much higher and grand than I could capture with my camera.

This is the beach where the Dory boats slide home.  Pacific City is one of the loveliest places on the Oregon Coast.  The cliffs are on the other side of this bluff.  To get to the cliffs, one must climb a truly imposing sand dune.  People actually surf down the face of the dune on sand boards.

Sand Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I love the Subtle greys of sand.  One of the places where Sissy and I love to visit is the Coast.  We are so blessed to live this close to beaches and sand, though the waters of the Pacific Ocean are always chilly.  I took this picture the last time Clytie and I were able to make a trip to the beach.  What a wonderful time we had with Cheryl, her husband and dear friends.

Beach Comber Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

Last January it was uncommonly warm at the beach.  Walking along the white pebbled sands, where piles of driftwood from recent storms lay in abstract patterns, I found this driftwood heart tucked within a fold of sand and wind.

What a lovely day at the beach!

Driftwood Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

I found this lovely driftwood heart in a large twisty log.  The beach was sunny and warm--there was magic in the air.

Gargoyle

These are the smooth and ever-changing sand cliffs overlooking Pacific City, where Dory Boats slide full-tilt onto the beaches, and buff surfers wait for the perfect wave.
.
What I didn't know is these cliffs are home to a Gargoyle, who watches fiendishly from overhead. Do you see her?
