Icy Shamrocks

I have always loved clover.  This curl of leaves is bedecked with ice crystals, smiling and sparkling in the morning sun.  Some call this sweet little plant a shamrock--a name from our Irish heritage.  The shamrock is firmly established as the most instantly recognizable emblem of Ireland. It is said to bring good luck, and is usually included in the bouquet of an Irish bride. St. Patrick was said to use the three leaves as a way to explain God.

I adore these lovely little leaves--they grow in my yard and the bees feast on their blossoms throughout Spring and Summer.

I am a friend of the bees and always endeavor to plant flowers they love.

Happy St. Patrick's Day--I know this is a bit early, as that holiday is celebrated on March 17th, still--with Spring's arrival, with its joyous sunshine and bursting of everything green--I am celebrating a little early!

Blessings and joy to you!

Jeweled Clover Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

The sun came out for an instant yesterday--as you can see I was able to capture this lovely bejeweled heart.  I am sure this will make a fine brooch for a tiny faery princess--one of those faeries who visit my garden.  (grin)  I know, I know--I have a GREAT imagination!

Caterpiller Dreams - Weekend Reflections

On our last walk, I was so busy looking at the amazing clouds in the skies above, I almost missed this small fellow.  My Sister Clytie was the first to notice this bright little caterpiller sporting sparkling dewdrop diamonds on a patch of green clover.

You can find more wonderful pictures from around the world at Weekend Reflections.

Dew'd

Did you realize clover is hairy? Well, it is--and these are so fuzzy and soft looking with the early morning dew clustered on their leaves.

I have a dear childhood friend, Juli, who can find four-leaf clovers where ever it grows. She often sends pressed four-leafed clovers to me in cards.

I rarely find them, though I do look. I think she has a gift. I've never known anyone else who can actually spot four-leafed clover the way she does!

Dew on Clover

The sun was twinkling over the crest of the hill when I noticed the clover at my feet clustered with dew, glistening like tiny jewels.
