I snapped this photo through the mesh of my window.  It is of the windshield of my car.  I love the way this turned out...

It looks rather mysterious, don't you think? 

Happy Snap Apple Day

I could hardly take my eyes from this bevy of brilliant leaves.

There is nothing so gloriously red as blackberry vine leaves in Fall.  The color just fills my eyes.

Heart Twirl - Guest Heart Thursday

We went up to a camp for a performance over the weekend.  Part of the package was to stay over and play the next day after striking the set.  The young'uns and I went for a walk through the woods--along the trail I happened upon this Heart Twirl.  It's a blackberry vine leaf untwirling into spring.

And within the twirlings--there is a perfect heart!

She Held the Moon

She Held the Moon in tender hands.  That is the phrase which filled my mind when I just happened to glance out the window this morning.  Of course I ran for my camera.  Then in a moment it was gone.

There is something so beautiful about the way this tree leans to softly cup the moon in leafy boughs.

Green and Gold - shadow Shot Sunday

 

I went for a walk one sunny Autumn evening.  I chanced to look up into a sun dappled maple tree.  What I saw took my breath away and filled my eyes.  Tangy greens and shiny golds tangled in sun and shadow to make a feast for the eyes.

Shadow on Filbert Leaves

I captured these wonderfully sun-drenched leaves on my last walk with my darling Sister Clytie. This is a wild filbert tree--I love the way the sun illuminates the leaves and that crisp shadow of leaf .

When I was young, my siblings and I loved playing in the thickets of filberts growing between the house and the old Oak tree.   We made rooms and corridors from one place to another by knotting and tying the nimble branches of the filbert trees together.  Wild blackberries and honeysuckle vines would twine up through those living walls to fill the air with fragrance and an occasional snack!

Years later I found thick knots where the limbs of the wild filberts had continued to grow after we'd tied them together.  Ah, childhood--sometimes I wish I could go back there.

Hearts for my Sister

This photo is dedicated to my darling Sissy. I clicked this photo as we walked together beneath the gold-clad trees. Even then, I knew these hearts were especially meant for her.

They are golden and brave. Just like my sister. They are filled with the promise of change to come, yet gorgeous in the beauty that is. That is my sister, beautiful and brave of heart.

Daddy Update: The surgeons gave the wound on Dad's head (which exposed quite a bit of bone) a one percent chance of healing without surgery. At present, the bone is completely covered and the skin around the wound only has about one and a half inches to go--if that! Dad is a walking miracle! Early next month, Dad will be going in for a neck check up--we are praying for the same miraculous healing in his broken neck bones.
.My siblings and I cleared and cleaned our parents home and property enough that they were able to return home last Sunday morning! They seem so happy. Next weekend we are tearing down a rotten section of their home--down to the floorboards, so I would appreciate your good thoughts and prayers for safety for everyone who will be coming over to help.

Lofty Leafy Feline

When I was small, my grandfather taught me to notice shapes and faces in the trees and clouds--a habit I've never lost. Up until the ice storm last winter, which stripped it of so many branches, our neighbor's tree was an old fashioned lady with her hair in a bun. She would lift her skirts to dance and sway to every breezy tune.

How delighted I was to discover the lady has turned into a VERY obvious tree-top cat! In the wind one can watch his ears flicking as he takes in the neighborhood.

So, anyone out there have an idea of a good name for this lofty leafy feline?

The Perfect Frame

I couldn't help but to notice how perfectly these trees framed the skies.

It is up to the observer to see what pictures have formed in the clouds they border. I see several things. There's a perfect child's profile, a man with a VERY big nose, and two great eyes peering from the side.

Green Starburst

I was captured by the startling contrast of colors in this burst of starry clump of green leaf, with its glowing red blossom.

Scarlet against Snowfall

On one of our wonderful walks--cameras in tow--my sister Clytie and I were graced with a surprise snowstorm. Whenever I am feeling stressed, or sad, I think of our lovely times together. I am so grateful for my precious sister.

When I clicked this photo I was leaning out of an abandoned cabin window to capture the brilliance of red leaves against the falling snow. You're right, Sissy--it is amazing how different our photos of red leaves turned out! I think I like yours best! (grin)

'Tis Fall Today

I have not been feeling very well the past two days. In my fragile state this morning it seems a bit of color would be appropriate. Hence this photo of last Fall's leaves. I found them near the Independence Bridge.

I love every season. Spring with it's tender green leaves and blooms, Summer with its warmth and brilliance, Winter with its stark beauty, and then Fall. Fall is harvest, nostalgia and gorgeous color--a last hurrah before the cold.

I came upon this photo today, and it's colorful aspect charmed my eyes, and so I share it with you.

Orange on Yellow

This is Elvis DeBoomba, sitting atop a bevy of leaves. This giant Main Coon loved the Fall. Leaves twirling down through the air were endlessly fascinating to him. He would chase them, play with them, toss them into the air--and sleep on them whenever he could.
