Heart in Ripples -Guest Heart Thursday

I was out for a walk to the park with my darling little niece, when she pointed out this heart in the ripples of the Willamette River.  In the sparkling sunshine--the heart made quite an entrance!

Cloudy Angel

Sunday, on our way home from Carson, Washington State, we stopped in Stevenson at my favorite park.  It is where one can cross an oaken bridge to a little meadow.  From there, stone hewn steps lead to a small lagoon where the beach is strewn with blue rocks.  I once met a dragon there.  (grin)  It is a magical place.

I wasn't a bit surprised to see this cloudy angel waving at me from across the river!

Have a beautiful day!

Tree on River Waters - Weekend Reflections

The river has so many moods--one never finds the same vision twice.  On this day I found a pool of water eddying at the river's edge.  The waters were so still I caught this Tree on River Waters.

Topsy Turvy - Weekend Reflections

This is the view from beneath the Independence Bridge.  Can you see the cloud profile reflected in those still river waters?

Little Adventurer

Here is my tiny partner in adventure! The picture was taken last summer during one of our great explorations. (grin) When my darling girl comes to visit, we color, we play, we walk, we swing, we look at birds and flowers, we visit the river and explore. I love being her "Auntie Bee." What a wonderful, fabulous privilege to be a part of this precious little person's life!

River Reflections

I was on my way home from Coos Bay, when I noticed a small river flowing beside the roadway. I saw a brilliant flash of blue. Unable to resist, I pulled over to investigate. I stood on the bank and took this wonderful photo of the blue, blue sky, where the opposite side of the river reflected upside down.

How Did You Say to Throw It?

Yesterday, down at the river bank, I was teaching my tiny niece how to throw rocks into the water underhanded. WOW! What an arm she has!
.
In this shot, her face shows her level of concentration as she was learning how to throw the rock using sound. "Whouaah!" we'd yell, as we threw rocks into the river. Then we would giggle together to hear the waters splash. The river was laughing back, you see.
.
What a great lesson to learn--it is the simple things in life which give the most enjoyment, and make living worth while.

Barefoot by the River

We went for a long walk. We admired the flowers, and checked out various kinds of bugs. We whistled to the birds, and cawed with the crows. We swung in the swings, we slid down the slides, we climbed the monkey bars.

We threw rocks into the water and giggled at the waves. She and I understood that as the waves shooshed and splashed ashore--the river was laughing with us.

Then on that unseasonably warm spring day, we rested barefoot by the river.

Rainbow Over the River

I thought it was time for another rainbow picture. Here you see the beauty of the rainbow as it arches its brilliant colors over the Willamette River. This was taken a couple of years ago with my very first camera.
.
I was sitting on the bank of the river, having gone for a walk. It was sunny when I'd started out, but I'd brought an umbrella just in case, because I'd glimpsed some purple clouds on the horizon. It was a good thing! As I huddled beneath the shelter of my umbrella, a strong swift storm crashed through. The wind blew and howled through the honey trees, the lighting flashed, the thunder cracked and boomed. And then stillness and the rainbow.
.
As my sweet Sissy advised years ago, "There could be no rainbows without both the sunshine and the rain." Such is life.
.
We would not know true joy for what it is, unless we'd experienced the storm beforehand.
