Heart in the Sand -Guest Heart Thursday

Where the sea had carved a cleft in the cliff, the rocks spilled forth.  And there, sitting sweetly in the sand, was a rock heart.  Ah, just perfect for Guest Heart Thursday!

Leaves and Bees -Guest Heart Thursday

I was on my way home from the Historical Preservation Commission meeting, when my fellow commissioner and I noticed a ball of honey bees in a tree in the parking lot.  They were swarming, and a bee keeper was on his way.  I took some very interesting pictures.

Yes, there is a heart in this photo--its sides are kind of pointy--but it is a heart just the same!

Heart of Rust -Guest Heart Thursday

To celebrate our 31st anniversary, we spent time in Oregon's spectacular Pacific City--a lovely jewel of a city snuggled into a perfect little bay area where the dory boats slide up the beach in the late afternoon.

The cliffs here are of a rusty orange with flecks of sparkles.  I found this heart just lying on the bare rock next to where the surf pounds its heart against the cliffs.

Above you can see the amazing orange color of these gorgeous sand cliffs.  For more heart art, photography and altogether fabulous heart stuff from around the world, visit Clytie at Random Hearts for Guest Heart Thursday.

Hole in Heart -Postcard Friendship Friday

We were gone for the weekend.  Such beautiful clouds--I am so sad, because somehow when I transferred all the photos from my camera to my computer on the road--they were lost.  This cloud heart, with the amazing circle in the middle, was not lost.  So I can share it with you today.

Exquisite Flower Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

On a recent trip to the Columbia Gorge, I went for a hike with my sis-in-law, niece and nephew.  What a delightful time we had.  One of my favorite places was the secret cave the kids showed me--so skillfully set into the side of the rocky hillside.  This is where I found this magical heart flower.

It was perfect for today's Guest Heart Thursday!

Happy Daisies

I love daisies--the big ones are fun, but the best daisies are the size of my thumb.  Here you see them cuddled in a puddle of sunshine.

Sometimes it looks like a happy gardener scattered them across the lawn with a joyous hand.  They look like starry constellations in a sea of green. When it comes time to mow the lawn, I have a hard time losing them to the mower.  (grin)

Up close, they seem to smile.  They are such a happy little flower.

Have a lovely Spring daisy day!

Tossy Heart Cloud -Guest Heart Thursday

To me, this looks like a little cloud cherub, tossing a cloud ball--which has a heart on it!  I know, I know--I have a GREAT imagination.   The heart is in the middle of the little round cloud in the upper right hand corner.  (grin)

Poster Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I was in the doctor's office recently.  I saw this poster--and yes, I found a heart--can you see it?!  I was just amazed.  So I took a picture of the poster.  This is NOT my own work. But it is wonderful, just the same.

Have a lovely day, dear friends and Happy Guest Heart Thursday.

Rainbow Sun

I took this spectacular photo several years ago.  With all the disturbing and terrifying news we're hearing all across the world--including our own nation...I had to remind myself that there is hope.

There will always be hope.  Hope is my heart's cry for every person who feels helpless and afraid.  You may live worlds away, or you might be my next door neighbor.   Wherever you are, know you are not alone.  The God of Hope walks with you.

I don't know what it is like to walk in your world, to savor life from your viewpoint.  But God knows.  He is with you.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust."
A Psalm of David.
(Psalm 91)

Cotton Candy Clouds -SkyWatch Friday

This photo doesn't do the original sky justice.  Ah, it was SO pretty--fluffy and pink, just like a huge fluff of cotton Candy!  And I do so love cotton Candy at the county fair in summertime.

Potluck Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I adore potlucks.  I remember them from days gone by--when I was just a tiny child.  All the wonderful aromas, people I knew and loved all gathered around, laughing and talking.

We attended a potluck recently, and these were the desserts!  Yum!  Of course, since there was a heart, I couldn't resist taking a picture.

Opal Sands, Golden Sun -Skywatch Friday

Sunsets along the Oregon beaches can be spectacular.  This picture was taken in January.  I loved the almost translucent, opal look of the sands, and the way the sun threw pink highlights into the waves.

The loveliness of the sun and the rays cast over the sea to land in a puddle on the beach, inexplicably touches my soul.

Have a lovely weekend.

Daisy Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I found this unexpected daisy heart in the middle of a lawn--I am SURE someone else saw it, too--as there were plucked flowers placed near the top of the heart.  I share this unknown person's whimsical fancy.  What a wonderful little spot of joy!

Heart of Sun -Guest Heart Thursday

I caught this rainbow sunspot heart last week as a fleet of hard working ladies came in to clean our house from the effects of the chimney fire we had two weeks ago.  I thought this was such an amazing photo.  Just beautiful--and not surprisingly, in the shape of a heart!

White Shroom Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I had the fun of visiting my brother and his family a few months ago.  There's a willow tree growing from the trunk of a tree which blew down--and on that stump there are the most amazing mushrooms.

This picture was taking looking down on the mushrooms which were growing from the side.  The heart is a bit misshapen, but it is a heart non-the less!

Hey Santa, You Down There? -Guest Heart Thursday

A friend of mine saw my photo and gave me this humorous caption.  It made me laugh and I dearly needed to laugh.  Also, you will notice the top of the ladder is in the shape of a heart!

You may wonder about this picture--today we had a chimney fire.  It was terribly frightening.  The fire was a stubborn one which took a long time to put out.  I first noticed there was a problem when the smoke alarm in the living room started going off.  Then I noticed smoke pouring from the back of the fireplace insert.  I immediately filled a pail of water and dumped the whole thing onto the burning fire to quench it--then closed the fireplace down.

They tell me I did the right thing, because it is likely the plume of steam slowed the fire.  The firemen said we called just in time.  It was starting to get into the house itself.  Ha!  There's a hole in the wall in our upstairs bedroom.

At first the smoke was pitch black.  Here the smoke is white, as they are pouring water down into the chimney.

What an adventure.  I'm so grateful to God for sparing our lives, our kitty and our home.  The firemen and the emergency folks who just left said someone was watching out for us.  And He was.  It could have been SO much worse.
