Ketchup Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
As you can see--this is a redneck breakfast come true--bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and bacon! Oh, my it was good--but before I ate it with "relish" I noticed there was a ketchup heart on that egg...
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Rockin' Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
Here's another heart---as you can see this picture was taken in blue rock lagoon. The wonderful little park in Stevenson, Washington, where one can walk across an oaken bridge, into a tiny meadow starred with flowers. Then down the stone stairs to the lagoon of blue stones. It is no wonder I found a heart rock in this magical place.
I once met a dragon there--and rode upon his back. (grin)
Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Chocolate Dreams -Guest Heart Thursday
We were attending a conference last week. The final dinner was an amazing gourmet meal, three courses, including lime sherbert to "cleanse the palate." Amazing! But when I saw the little chocolate heart--I had to take a picture. And it was as delicious as it looks! I'm haunted by this fabulous dessert this morning.
Have a sweet day and happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Goldfinch Leaf Heart-Guest Heart Thursday
This little fellow is a goldfinch. The reason he's not so golden is that he's wearing his winter garb. It was wonderful to discover they were still flocking to the bird feeder. There are eight of these tiny birds who regularly feed there. Soon it will grow too cold and they will head south for warmer weather. In the meantime, I feel blessed every time I see them.
Did you notice the heart? The goldfinch is the left side and the hazelnut leaf is the right side! Have a lovely day!

Napkin Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
My darling took me out to dinner last summer--an you believe it? Yep--do you see the heart? I did--right away, and of course, I had to take a picture. It was a lovely night out--one I'll remember always.

Heart Petals -Guest Heart Thursday
This is a petal from an old fashioned rose bush. It is such a fragrant flower--as are most antique roses. This one once graced the garden of our Great Grandmother. I like to think that she would have loved this flower blooming so beautiful and fragrant next to the pond in Mumsie's yard.
The petals are so perfectly heart-shaped I thought them perfect for Guest Heart Thursday!

Unusual Flower Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
Mumsie and I went for a walk in the park last week. We came across this flower. And, of course, you can see the beautiful orange heart--just perfect for Guest Heart Thursday!
At first we thought the flowers had faded and were sliding down the stem. But it turns out, that tiny delicate tendril upon which the flower rests--IS the stem.
This flower has a spotted belly and a funny looking tail. Neither Mumsie nor I had ever come across the flower before. Anyone have any idea what it is? We would LOVE to know.
UPDATE: Oddly enough, I was looking through some old postcards last week and was astonished to find one featuring the flower Mumsie and I saw. It is a Spotted Orange Touch-Me-Not, more commonly known as Spotted Jewel Weed.
It is a flower usually found in the Eastern part of North America. Its color varies--a warm yellow, grading to a deeper shade of orange. Though the spots on the one we found are more orangish, in most cases the spots are dark red, or purple in an irregular pattern. It flowers from July to September! There are some species of flowers which are welcome to migrate westward--in my opinion this is one of them.

Glowing Sky Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
I remember an old hillybilly woman I knew as a child. She and her family lived in the hills near the church we attended. Her daughter was my very best friend. She taught me to read the clouds as to what weather was in store. This wonderful lady is the person who early on, inspired me to love clouds.
This past week, with the storms about to come in from the Pacific Ocean there have been a lot of wonderful clouds--including the glowing heart you see above.
These clouds herald a change in weather and BOY, did the weather change! From sunny and slightly cloudy, to grey and soggy. I have missed the rain, though--so I'm not too sad. The plants are drinking in the moisture and I can tell they are happy.
Hope you have a lovely day today! Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Mossy Heart on Maple -Guest Heart Thursday
My husband took me on a surprise picnic yesterday. I've never been to this park before. It was lovely. There was no sound other than the creek and the wind whiffling through the tops of these immense trees. The trees were HUGE!
I wasn't surprised to find a heart nearby.
Of course, I took a picture for my sweet Sissy. This one's for you, Clytie, Queen of Hearts!!!
On our way, we spotted this sign. Bwahahahahaaa....totally made my day.
I knew you would laugh, SissyBoo. (giggle) Of course, I had to take a picture of the "cutest" old fart I know. (grin)

Heart of Light on the Ceiling -Guest Heart Thursday
My niece and I were busy painting pictures when she leaped to her feet, pointing to the ceiling! "Ebee," she shouted, "Look, there's a heart on the ceiling!"
And sure enough there was! She says it is fairy magic--and I believe her.

Gift from a Mermaid -Guest Heart Thursday
My tiny niece says this is where the mermaids live. She is sure there is a beautiful palace hidden beneath those gnarled roots. It is a bit too deep for us to wade over to see for sure. Every now and then, she says she sees them hiding and smiling at us. They like humans who pick up the garbage others leave behind. We are friends of the forest when we do this, you see.
The mermaids even left a beautiful little heart for us to see, as we waded toward the bank of the creek.
The world is full of wonder and magic when viewed through the eyes of a child!

Little Heart Hunter -Guest Heart Thursday
Do you see the heart in the creek?
I bet you can now.
As we walked through the parking lot, my little heart hunter danced on her toes and said, "There's another heart for Auntie Honey!"
Have a beautiful day everyone.

A Firework Heart for Sissy -Guest Heart Thursday
Every Fourth of July I keep my eye sharpened for a heart for Sissy in the fireworx. So far I've actually caught one for Clytie each time--this is the one I caught last week! Do you see the beautiful smoke heart next to the splashing light?
Happy Fourth of July, Sissy! I love you!

Coffee Blop Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
I was in the kitchen talking to our younger sister, when I noticed this perfectly shaped coffee blop heart. I noticed, as I just put this up, that my photo is a bit blurry--probably a good thing, as those tiles needed a good bath. Have a wonderful week!

Unexpectedly Skunked -Guest Heart Thursday
So over the past few days we've have had this awful aroma coming from under the north end of the house. My husband thought it was likely a possum which had taken up residence--and we did find a place where an animal had been coming and going.
So, Monday night, my darling put out a live trap.
I was enjoying tea and fabulous treats with my friend TJ, when I received a phone call from my husband.
Says he, "What the aych, eey, double toothpick am I gonna do?!"
Shocked I replied, "WHAT?!"
Said he a bit sheepishly, "Honey, I've done caught a skunk."
I laughed and laughed...then I wondered what we were going to do. Even with suggested remedies, skunk aroma does NOT wear off for quite some time.
A sweet little fellow he was--with an uncommonly good taste in music. Since he was out there--looking so very lonely and miserable, I decided to make friends. He let me come within three feet or so--I was singing and talking to him when I took this picture. He seemed quite charmed by my voice.
Eventually we had to hire someone to come and take him away. My goodness--the aroma is STILL clinging to the vegetation outside. The pest control folks took a video of him running happily into skunk paradise in the nearby Baskett Slough wildlife reserve. When they send it to us via email, I'll be sure to post it here.
I don't know if you can make it out--but his nose is shaped like a little heart. (grin)

Sandstone Heart -Guest Heart Thursday
I spotted this wonderful sandstone heart right away. Last winter's storms loosened a great deal of the cliffs here and this crumble of sandstone is what is left.
This is the cliff itself. It is much higher and grand than I could capture with my camera.
