Coffee Blop Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I was in the kitchen talking to our younger sister, when I noticed this perfectly shaped coffee blop heart.  I noticed, as I just put this up, that my photo is a bit blurry--probably a good thing, as those tiles needed a good bath.  Have a wonderful week!

Unexpectedly Skunked -Guest Heart Thursday

So over the past few days we've have had this awful aroma coming from under the north end of the house.  My husband thought it was likely a possum which had taken up residence--and we did find a place where an animal had been coming and going.

So, Monday night, my darling put out a live trap.

I was enjoying tea and fabulous treats with my friend TJ, when I received a phone call from my husband.

Says he, "What the aych, eey, double toothpick am I gonna do?!"

Shocked I replied, "WHAT?!"

Said he a bit sheepishly, "Honey, I've done caught a skunk."

I laughed and laughed...then I wondered what we were going to do.  Even with suggested remedies, skunk aroma does NOT wear off for quite some time.

A sweet little fellow he was--with an uncommonly good taste in music.  Since he was out there--looking so very lonely and miserable, I decided to make friends. He let me come within three feet or so--I was singing and talking to him when I took this picture.  He seemed quite charmed by my voice.

Eventually we had to hire someone to come and take him away. My goodness--the aroma is STILL clinging to the vegetation outside.  The pest control folks took a video of him running happily into skunk paradise in the nearby Baskett Slough wildlife reserve.  When they send it to us via email, I'll be sure to post it here.

I don't know if you can make it out--but his nose is shaped like a little heart.  (grin)

Sandstone Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I spotted this wonderful sandstone heart right away.   Last winter's storms loosened a great deal of the cliffs here and this crumble of sandstone is what is left.

This is the cliff itself.  It is much higher and grand than I could capture with my camera.

This is the beach where the Dory boats slide home.  Pacific City is one of the loveliest places on the Oregon Coast.  The cliffs are on the other side of this bluff.  To get to the cliffs, one must climb a truly imposing sand dune.  People actually surf down the face of the dune on sand boards.

Unexpected Beauty -Skywatch Friday

What beautiful clouds!  I couldn't believe my eyes--it seemed there were a number of lovely angels in those ethereal clouds, if only I could see them.

I'm entering this as a first for Skywatch Friday!

I'm off to live life!  Have a great day everyone!

Sparkle Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

Monday, my husband and I took Mumsie to visit Daddy's place on Memorial Day.  Unexpectedly, the sun came out and I was able to capture the sun's rays as they burst over the top of the wall where Dad is.

Then of all things, the sunshine touched the cut glass cross necklace Dad gave to Mom--sending sparkles next to his name.  Daddy--forever in our hearts.  And did you notice?  The sparkle is in the shape of a heart.

Sea Sunset Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

When I go to the beach without my darling Sissy, I always look for a heart to bring back for her.  This was taken as my husband and I drove to the Oregon Coast for our anniversary this past week.

I asked God for a heart for Sissy--and this is the one He sent.  I love you, SissyBoo. There is a beautiful cloud heart and a glowing sunshine heart just for you.  ((hugs))

Heart of Golden Rose -Guest Heart Thursday

You can see several lovely hearts in the middle of this beautiful golden-hearted rose.  I clicked this beauty on one of my morning walks last Spring.  The sunshine made it glow.

I have a chance to win a small original painting of my own dear Polydactyl Cat by one of my all-time favorite artists.  If you'd like to vote for Toez, visit Sandrine's Gallery.  Happy Guest Heart Thursday everyone!

Another Lovely Cloud Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

Just before all the sunshine flooded our way, the sky was filled with some amazing clouds.  I just happened to catch this heart in the clouds.  On closer examination, I found a dog howling, a bearded man and several other interesting shapes.  What do you see?

Yoda Holds My Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

I was driving home from Salem, along the river road, when I caught sight of Yoda.  He was holding a heart.  I quickly pulled over and shot this picture of him.  Isn't he cute?!  There's even a rainbow on one side of that unexpectedly near-perfect heart!

Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Old Memories -Weekend Reflections

I was on my way home when I stopped at a little park I'd never frequented before.  In the woods off the road, I found this ancient school bus hidden in the underbrush.

I was fascinated by the rusty old parts of this vehicle--especially this steering wheel.  What an unexpected find.

Shattered glass lay in the moss-covered earth.  I wondered how long it had been there.

Going on a Heart Hunt -Guest Heart Thursday

My six-year old niece and I went on a heart hunt last week.  She was so excited to point out this one.  "For Auntie Honey," she exclaimed, dancing in her pink sparkly shoes.  This is what we call a tulip tree.  It is really a magnolia--but I like tulip tree better.  There's something fanciful about that name.

This is a May flower.  We found them down by the creek where the Johnny Jump Ups grow.  As you can see, in the folded budding of the flower--there's a heart.

Here you see the best find of all.  She was SO happy over this heart on a shell.  Our little niece was excited she'd found so many hearts for her dear Auntie Honey.

Happy heart hunting!

Cloudy Angel

Sunday, on our way home from Carson, Washington State, we stopped in Stevenson at my favorite park.  It is where one can cross an oaken bridge to a little meadow.  From there, stone hewn steps lead to a small lagoon where the beach is strewn with blue rocks.  I once met a dragon there.  (grin)  It is a magical place.

I wasn't a bit surprised to see this cloudy angel waving at me from across the river!

Have a beautiful day!

Johnny Jump Up Hearts -Guest Heart Thursday

This is what we call Johnny Jump Ups.  They are yellow violets and grow wild in the forests of my childhood.

I was delighted to find them growing in our local park!  They've cleared the brambles away and the Johnny Jump Ups have arrived in force.

They cluster around the trees and along the pathways near the creek....

...to the delight of my darling little niece!

Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Grandma's Hands -Guest Heart Thursday

I found a rock heart and brought it to my darling little Gramma Gladys.  Her hands are so beautiful to me.  She has had such an impact on my life and my family.  I have known her for 32 years.  Wise and wonderful--with an infinite source of stories (all told with a New York Accent) and plum full of love--that is Gramma.

She reminds me of a little gnome--all bent over with her hair in a nimbus of white.  She is only a month older than Dad and every time I see her she is a bit more fragile.

Aren't her hands beautiful?  Those hands have taught children how to cook and sew and wiped away the tears of so many little ones.  She is amazing--If she could have patented all the things she invented to make life easier, she'd be a millionaire!

I remember when my children had chicken pox.  My husband and I had to be away, so she tucked them into her living room and cared for them until we returned.  That was what Grandma did.  As a young Mom with three bouncing children under the age of six, she often came to my rescue.  Her wise words and friendship meant the world to me.  I am SO blessed to have Grandma as my dear Friend.

Her legacy is one of love--she has captured all of our hearts with her beauty and tenderness...not to mention a generous smattering of common sense and humor.  I love her so much I wanted to share her with you.

Have a lovely day, everyone!

Whimsical Wizard

Our weather has been so rainy and moist over the past three years, many trees are covered with trailing grey beard moss.  In my vivid imagination, this tree could be a whimsical wizard!  Grey beard moss usually grows near water and can look creepily mystical as it blows in the gentle breeze.

Have a lovely day, everyone!

Bark Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

Sissy and I found this amazing little heart in the bark of a giant fir tree located along the road near the entrance to Leprechaun Valley and Bambi's Meadow.
